Your code stays on your computer.
WATA Desktop scans, repairs and restores local project files. Account services manage access to the application. They do not receive project code, file names, project names, folder paths, scan excerpts or project archives.
What account services store
- Your email, account identifier, creation date, access settings and protected password and recovery-code hashes.
- A randomly generated installation identifier, device connection records, token hashes, app version and last connection time. WATA does not use hardware fingerprinting.
- Operation authorizations: scan, repair or checks, with their time and app version. These records support daily limits and the activity shown in your account.
- Short-lived, hashed rate-limit keys derived from the request address and account details to limit abuse. Hosting providers also process network requests under their own service policies.
- Owner changes to access limits and device permissions.
No advertising trackers or optional behavioral analytics are included. Account and access records are necessary to operate the connected application.
How access works
An internet connection and an authorized account are required before starting scans, repairs and project checks. Daily limits reset at 00:00 UTC. A quota slot is used when an operation is authorized, even if the local operation later fails. The owner can suspend accounts, change limits, set an access expiry and revoke devices.
These controls apply to this connected release. They cannot remotely disable previously distributed offline versions or guarantee protection against a modified application.
Local projects, backup files and the Restore function remain available when an account is suspended, a limit is reached or the service is unavailable.
Your controls
In your account, you can revoke devices, sign out everywhere, export desktop account data and delete the desktop account with your password. Deleting the account removes its account, device and operation records. It does not delete or change files on your computer.
Recent activity is limited to 50 entries in the dashboard. Old activity beyond 90 days and expired technical records are cleaned when the account service is used. Account records remain until you delete the account. Previous cloud migration orders, if any, belong to the separate historical service and are not represented as desktop projects.
Passwords and recovery
Passwords are stored as salted, computationally expensive hashes. Browser sessions use protected cookies; desktop credentials use the operating system's encrypted storage. Save your recovery code privately: it replaces email-based password recovery. Resetting the password disconnects previous sessions and devices.
Software distribution
WATA is distributed as a compiled desktop application without publishing its source code. Packaging and integrity checks make casual modification harder; they do not make installed software impossible to inspect. This Windows beta is currently unsigned.
